Region: D.O. Jumilla, Spain
Composition: 100% Monastrell
History: Those who know us say that we are the most irreverent and rogue winery in the Mediterranean. We take it as a compliment, because we understand that being a scoundrel means swimming against the tide, being non-conformist and creating wines that do not leave anyone indifferent. We are also fervent defenders of our land and its fruits. For years we have been obsessed with showing the world everything that the native grapes of the Mediterranean can offer if we treat them with respect and admiration. Toni Arraez Calabuig, has been the director and oenologist since 2007 and has been a revolution, contributing his vision of modern, brave and up-to-date wine, without losing the family tradition. Throughout its 69-year history, the winery has been led by three generations of Arráez, who knew how to read the needs of the society to which they belonged. The Monastrell grape, the protagonist in our neighboring Jumilla, is cultivated by one of the pioneers in organic farming in the region, Mrs. Margarita, 75 years old. Thanks to a late harvest, double selection of grapes, in the field and in the cellar, and careful preparation and aging, we have managed to naturally extract all the personality of Monastrell in each bottle. The label has been designed by Eduardo Bermejo, a great friend and well-known Valencian artist.
Tasting Notes:
Intense purple red color; aromas of pepper with hints of roasted. On the palate it is an enveloping wine, where ripe red and black fruits predominate with a powerful, well-structured and persistent aftertaste.
