History: The Liger-Belair family has passed down the tradition of winemaking from generation to generation for the past 250 years. In 2001, Thibault Liger-Belair took over the vineyards as winemaker and created Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair. Before joining the Domaine family, Thibault studied viticulture and oenology for six years, working for a communications company in Paris, where he was able to present and sample wines internationally. In his mid-20s, Thibault also started an internet company with the idea of discovering and selling high-quality wines. But the vocation for the vines was still strong, so in 2001, at the age of 26, Thibault decided to jump over the fence, this time to make wine, his true vocation and passion. The role that Liger-Belair imposes on himself is to “listen” to the vine and observe it closely. Your responsibility is to better respond to your needs and thereby help you realize your full natural potential, not to require you to produce large quantities of grapes, but to produce a limited quantity of exceptional quality. The domain’s vineyards are certified organic by Ecocert. Located in the southern part of the appellation, Les Saint-Georges is considered one of the oldest climates. It was planted in the year 1000 AD. At the end of the 19th century, Nuits was authorized to add the famous “Saint-Georges” cru to its name.
Tasting Notes:
Always with a great freshness thanks to the big presence of limestone in the soils, it’s a powerful wine without great wealth. This wine has a great depth and it is necessary to tame it to sense it perfectly. This appellation is well known as Renardes, because its wines are always very rich with animal, leather and black fruit notes.
