History: At Bootleg we pay tribute to the devotion and audacity that inspired our ancestors: the roguish vintners, who smuggled vine cuttings from renowned French vineyards and replanted them in California to elevate American wine to world-class status. In its spirit, we embrace “unrestricted winemaking”, giving our winemaker the freedom to create the maximum expression of each vintage, outside the limits of a certain variety, denomination or oenological tradition. Without rules or expectations, comes the opportunity to redefine the game. Though the recipe may change from year to year, Bootleg’s lush, bold and complex combinations defy convention while remaining anchored in the famed vineyards of Napa and Sonoma.

Tasting Notes:

Beautiful garnet color leading to a nose of black berries, blueberries, chocolate, baking spices, and earthy base notes. On the palate, the wine exhibits round, rich and accessible tannins with great structure. Flavors of blueberry and blackberry compote, toasty oak and a long, luscious finish. The wine is full and appealing enough to enjoy neat, yet structured enough to stand up to big, bold meals like ribs, lamb, or barbecue.
