Region: Tuscany, Italy

Vintage: 2017

Composition: Sangiovese 40%, Syrah 20%, Cabernet Sauvignon 20%, Merlot 20%

History: Borgo Scopeto is an old and well established producer of Chianti Classico. It is a true borgo, a village with its own church, post office, town center and residences. Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini owns Borgo Scopeto, along with Altesino, Caparzo and Doga delle Clavule, and she and winemaker Massimo Bracalente are responsible for all aspects of Borgo Scopeto wine production. The first bottle of Chianti Classico with the Borgo Scopeto label was produced in 1990. A Super Tuscan with great personality and elegance. The grapes for Borgonero are selected from the Cagliano and Vittoria vineyards, whose soil characteristics, exposures and microclimates are perfectly adapted to the varieties that make up the wine.

Tasting Notes:

Ruby color charged. On the nose, ethereal and broad, refined and seductive, with noble aromas. On the palate, full-bodied, extraordinary structure, tremendous harmony and surprising smoothness.

Awards: 92 pts James Suckling
