Region: Chianti Classico, Italy

Vintage: 2016

Composition: Sangiovese 90%, Merlot 5%, Colorino 5%

History: Borgo Scopeto is an old and well established producer of Chianti Classico. It is a true borgo, a village with its own church, post office, town center and residences. Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini owns Borgo Scopeto, along with Altesino, Caparzo and Doga delle Clavule, and she and winemaker Massimo Bracalente are responsible for all aspects of Borgo Scopeto wine production. The first bottle of Chianti Classico with the Borgo Scopeto label was produced in 1990.

Tasting Notes:

Full and intense nose but at the same time sweet and fruity, with notes of black fruits. Pleasant undertones of noble wood, vanilla and cocoa and a surprising finish of cherry. On the palate, dry, with a firm structure, austere and elegant; well balanced. Excellent persistence of flavor.

Premios: 91pts James Suckling & 90 pts Wine Spectator
