Region: Amarone della Superiore DOCG, Veneto, Italy

Vintage: 2012

Composition: 60% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 10% Oseleta, 10% Croatina

History: The Dal Forno family has been making wine since 1983. Located in Val D’Illasi, the estate consists of 65 acres of vineyards planted with the traditional indigenous varieties of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croata. The estate’s vineyards are located where the slopes begin to climb towards the mountains and sit 300 meters above sea level. The loose and alluvial soils, the meticulous pruning and the scrupulous viticultural techniques guarantee grapes of remarkable quality. The Dal Fornos use traditional methods to grow the best fruit and then employ modern techniques to produce the best wines: classic in expression and modern in purity. Dal Forno Romano is well known for a number of superior wines ranging from the region’s famous Valpolicella and Amarone to unique bottlings like Vigne Seré, a passito-style dessert wine. Sustainably grown.

Tasting Notes:

“A velvety, full-bodied version loaded with blackberry coulis, baked black cherry and tar-tinged smoky flavors that sweep across the palate. It offers lovely accents of dried mint, tobacco, iron and anise that echo in the firm finish.” –Wine Spectator

Awards: 97pts James Suckling, 96pts Wine Advocate, and 95pts Wine Spectator
