Region: Valpolicella Superiore DOC, Veneto, Italy

Vintage: 2006

Composition: 70% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 5% Croatina, and 5% Oseleta

History: The Dal Forno family has been making wine since 1983. Located in Val D’Illasi, the estate consists of 65 acres of vineyards planted with the traditional indigenous varieties of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croata. The estate’s vineyards are located where the slopes begin to climb towards the mountains and sit 300 meters above sea level. The loose and alluvial soils, the meticulous pruning and the scrupulous viticultural techniques guarantee grapes of remarkable quality. The Dal Fornos use traditional methods to grow the best fruit and then employ modern techniques to produce the best wines: classic in expression and modern in purity. Dal Forno Romano is well known for a number of superior wines ranging from the region’s famous Valpolicella and Amarone to unique bottlings like Vigne Seré, a passito-style dessert wine. Sustainably grown.

Tasting Notes:

“A very rich and spicy nose of kirsch, sweet cherries, spice box, hazelnuts and vanilla beans with pastel dried black cherries and lots of cedar as well. Full bodied, sweet fruit, vibrant acidity, round ripe tannins …” – James Suckling

Awards: 94 pts James Suckling, 92 pts Wine Spectator
