$69.00

Region: Ribera del Duero, Spain

Vintage: 2019

Composition: 95% Tempranillo & 5% Albillo

History: The Aragón Vignerons family discovered that the only way to recover traditional values was by reconquering the past. Thus, they decided to restore an area of underground cellars from the 16th century in the historic wine-growing town of Quintana del Pidio. For a thousand years, Quintana del Pidio has supplied wine to Castilian knights, abbeys, and warriors. Winemaker Oscar Aragón returns to traditional winemaking in Ribera del Duero with fermentations in concrete vats (which he says has a considerable impact on the style of the wine), the addition of small amounts of Albillo blanco to the reds, and the aging of wine in ancient underground cellars.

Tasting Notes:

“Impressive with ripe fruit, spices, and graphite with a medium to full palate. Notes of red and black fruit, some pepper, and a touch of smoke with fine tannins and a clean and long finish.” – The Wine Advocate
