Composition: 100% Pinot Noir

History: Domaine Drouhin-Laroze is a producer in the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy that specializes in Pinot Noir wines. The domaine originates in vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin, which Jean-Baptiste Laroze purchased in 1850. Eventually, Alexandre Drouhin took over the estate, bringing his family vines from Chambolle-Musigny and incorporating them under Domaine Drouhin-Laroze. Today, the family owns 11.5 hectares (28.5 acres) of vines spread throughout Burgundy, which is run by the fifth and sixth generations of the family.

Tasting Notes:

“No stems here, a reflection of the style of the vineyard rather than a vintage choice. Old vines with millerandage. A much denser purple colour and a much more intense flamboyant yet cool red fruit on the nose. Beautifully structured, with an engagingly long finish. Very well done, given that Lavaux was really in the path of the June storm. Drink from 2032-2038. Tasted Nov 2023.” – Jasper Morris
