History: Glenfarclas (“Valley of the Green Grass”) Distillery stands out as an esteemed producer of Speyside style Scotch Whisky. Officially founded in 1836, there has been evidence found that supports theories that whisky-making on the site could have started around 1791. Bought in 1865 by John Grant and his son, the distillery continues to this day as a family-owned enterprise, operated by six generations of Grants. In that time, Glenfarclas has become known for producing Sherried, full-bodied malts.

Tasting Notes:

Earthy notes of dried leaves, wet wool, and a hint of maltiness start things off on the nose, then citrus and red apple. The palate is sweet and balanced, offering warm apple tart, cinnamon, cooked blueberries, raisins, toffee, and Christmas cake, with a slight and appealing hint of soapiness. A lengthy finish brings chocolate cake, glazed orange, pfeffernusse cookies, and winter spice.
