History: Gradis’ciutta is the name of a rural community on top of a hill in San Floriano del Collio. Around this village, Robert Princic’s grandfather, Franz Princic, had his historic vineyards. Before being named Gradis’ciutta, this place was known as Monsvini, which in Latin means “the mountain of wine”; the name recalls the ancient winemaking tradition of Collio. To the west of the city of Gorizia, there is a group of hills known as Collio. The Isonzo river flows through this mountainous section to the southeast, the Iudrio stream to the northwest, while to the south, Collio merges with the Friulian plain. This area is appreciated not only for its wines, but also for its fruit and olive oil. Historically, Collio has been a scene of skirmishes during the Great War and a frontier during World War II. Then, in 1964, Collio became one of the first wine consortiums established in Italy and the first in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Throughout the world, his name is synonymous with high-quality white wines. Gradis’ciutta obtained organic certification in 2018.

Tasting Notes:

Light straw yellow colour. On the nose, an unmistakable and pleasant bouquet, with textbook varietal aromas of citrus, seductive apples and a note of cream. On the palate it offers a fragrant start, with a succession of corresponding flavors that leave room for an elegant reminiscence of apple in the finish.
