History: The vineyard and winery are located in the historic Finca de El Estarijo in the municipality of Alfaro, recognized in the area for being for years the place where a historic Spanish aviation aerodrome was located. It was inaugurated in the year 1919 and field of activity of many of the pioneers of aviation. The runway was located in what is now the vineyard, while the current production halls of the winery served as a hangar, as still seems to be guessed today after observing its structure. The chosen brand, both for the winery and for the first wine, refers to Heraclio Alfaro Fournier, a pioneer of Spanish aviation. We had the need for Heraclio Alfaro to be a wine linked to the soil and climate, which was related to the territory and the region’s wine culture. This has been the source of our inspiration: centuries of collective wisdom and practical experience, where winegrowers cultivated various traditional varieties and built their wines by assembling them in the proper way, thus obtaining wines richer in nuances, balanced and unique. …Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha… In the heart of the Eastern Rioja and at the foot of the winery is our El Estarijo estate, 30 ha of 40-year-old vineyard.

Tasting Notes:

Intense color, elegant nose. Ripe black fruit, red fruit jam and spices, integrated wood. Balance in the mouth, dense, soft, fresh and long finish.
