Composition: 100% Pinot Noir

History: Domaine Jacques Prieur is a relatively large Burgundy producer that makes both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from esteemed vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The history of the domaine began in the 1860s, with the marriage of Claude Duvergey and Marie Taboureau. They first established the wine and spirits merchant business, Duvergey-Taboureau House, before buying property in Meursault – now the site of the modern Jacques Priuer domain. Beginning in the late 1800s and continuing into the 20th Century, the family began investing in viticulture and purchasing vineyards, establishing vines in what have become some of the most sought after appellations in the Côte d’Or.

Tasting Notes:

A perfumed and exuberantly floral suffused nose is composed by notes of plum, black raspberry and warm earth. There is fine richness and detail to the seductively textured medium-bodied flavors culminate in a compact, mildly austere and sneaky long finish. This needs better depth but there is sufficient underlying material that more complexity should develop.
