Composition: 94% Monastrell, 6% Moravia Agria, Blanquilla, Rojal
History: The history of this family and its relationship with the vine dates back to 1895 in the area of La Calera. The spread of phylloxera in Europe led many winemakers and grape growers to settle in the region, as 80% of the vineyards there had not been affected. From its beginnings, the winery set out to protect this heritage of vineyards, some owned by the family and others that, due to their low yields, had been abandoned. They seek out transitional mountain areas with greater thermal variation to create shaded microclimates that delay grape ripening and promote a balance between acidity, alcohol, and fruit. Today, the winery cultivates around 26 hectares of estate vineyards certified organic since the early 1990s, with all harvesting carried out by hand. Additional plots are currently being converted to biodynamic farming.
