History: The first wine Heidi made for La Sirena began as a chance opportunity: a custom crush wine for a failed client. She had been hired to make Sangiovese during the 1994 vintage for a new brand, but found herself in a conflict of interest situation with her family, who had other ties to the winery. The wine was already made and quite delicious, but the client had to abandon the project. They were going to put the wine on the bulk market and she thought, ‘This is my chance to start my own winery, maybe I could buy it!

Tasting Notes:

La Sirena Caberent Sauvignon is ripe and concentrated, dark in color and very aromatic in the glass. Immediate notes of tart blackberry, plum, and black cherry are rounded out by 5 spice, cedar, and an accent of toasted French oak. Big flavors meld with a smooth, velvety texture on the palate: the tannins are velvety and integrated, providing the structure to make this wine cellar-worthy for many years. A strong initial burst of flavor followed by a round mid palate, culminating in a long finish – this is a well rounded wine that leaves a lasting impression. A beautiful and classic expression of Napa Valley Cabernet – powerful and well balanced.
