History: The first wine Heidi made for La Sirena began as a chance opportunity: a custom crush wine for a failed client. She had been hired to make Sangiovese during the 1994 vintage for a new brand, but found herself in a conflict of interest situation with her family, who had other ties to the winery. The wine was already made and quite delicious, but the client had to abandon the project. They were going to put the wine on the bulk market and she thought, “This is my chance”.

Tasting Notes:

Ripe and concentrated, darkly colored and very aromatic in the glass. Immediate notes of blackberry pie, plum, and black cherry are rounded out with 5 spice, cedar, and an accent of toasty French oak. Big flavors meld with a plush, velvety texture on the palate – tannins are velvety and integrated, providing the structure to make this wine cellar-worthy for many years to come. A strong initial burst of flavor followed by a round mid-palate, culminating in a long finish – it’s a complete wine that leaves a lasting impression.
