Region: Napa Valley, California

Vintage: 2014

Composition: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

History: Diamond Mountain overlooks the city of Calistoga at the northern end of Napa Valley and is part of the Mayacamas Mountains that frame the western edge of the valley. Lokoya’s Diamond Mountain District Cabernet Sauvignon was first made in 1995 and is sourced from a selection of blocks at three distinct vineyards: the estate-owned Rhyolite Ridge (1,200 ft) and Wallis (1,500 ft) vineyards, as well as the Andrew Geoffrey Vineyard. (1800 feet). Located above the fog line, the vineyards experience cooler days and warmer nights with less temperature variation than on the northern valley floor. High altitudes, poor soils, and a moderate climate produce full-bodied wines that display rich black cherry flavor and dark chocolate notes with relatively smooth tannins.

Tasting Notes:

“Deep garnet purple in color, it emerges from the glass with notes of fragrant earth, exotic spices, black pepper and truffles over a heart of cassis, black cherry compote and wild blueberries with hints of violets.” – Lisa Perrotti Brown
