Region: Napa Valley, California

Vintage: 2019

Composition: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

History: Bathed in sunlight on the western ridges of the Mayacamas Mountains at the northern end of the Mount Veeder appellation, the Veeder Peak Estate vineyard sits at 1,800 feet elevation. Since 1995, Lokoya has produced a Cabernet Sauvignon from a selection of blocks located on steep, mountainous terrain. Struggling in this volcanic soil forces the vines to search for nutrients and, in turn, produce berries with intensely concentrated fruit. The wines display defining characteristics of violets and blue fruits with powerful tannins and exceptional aging potential.

Tasting Notes:

“Deep garnet purple in color, it rises out of the glass with lively aromas of black cherries, black raspberries and black currant pastilles, followed by nuances of pencil shavings, arable soil, lilac and brush, plus a breath of crushed rocks. The full-bodied palate is taut, packed with punchy, muscular black fruit, with a rock-solid backbone of firm, grainy tannins, ending with a fireworks display of earthy/mineral sparks.” – Lisa Perrotti Brown
