Composition: 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah

Vineyard: The grapes for this wine come from an eleven-vineyard vineyard owned by chefs Gerald Hirigoyen (Piperade), Laurent Manrique (Café de la Presse), Sylvain Portay (formerly with Ducasse) and master sommelier Emmanuel Kemiji (Miura Vineyards), made with approximately 60% Grenache (Garnatxa in Catalan) and 40% Syrah. The soil is a mixture of clay and licorella (the local name for a type of soft slate), and yields are reduced to a paltry ton and a quarter per cord, typical of the best vineyards in this region.

Tasting Notes:

The wine is wonderfully integrated: the Grenache offers plenty of juicy red fruit, and the Syrah brings blackcurrants, black pepper, earthiness, and structure to the mix.
