Composition: 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot, 2% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot

History: Mt. Brave Vineyard sits atop Mt. Veeder at an elevation of 1,400 to 1,800 feet. Mt. Veeder has been planted with wine grapes since the early 1860s by winemaking pioneers such as Charles Krug, Agoston Haraszthy, Frederick Hess, and William S. Keyes, and Mt. Veeder wines achieved recognition as early as the Paris Exposition of 1900. The plot that became the Mt. Mt. Brave Vineyard, at the northern end of the Mt. Veeder American Viticultural Area (AVA) was originally purchased in 1841, before the Gold Rush and Civil War.

Tasting Notes:

Deep violet-black in color, it features notes of warm blackberries, cassis and wild blueberries with hints of violets, dark chocolate, cigar box and menthol. Full-bodied and loaded with black and blue fruit, it has a firm structure of grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, with a long finish.
