History: This wine was introduced as a unique bottling in 2002 after a forest fire swept through the surrounding slopes of the vineyard. Residual ash and smoke echoed off the Syrah grapes, creating a highly memorable wine. Year after year, we are asked to develop a Syrah to keep the history of this wine alive! Now, many vintages later, we hope you enjoy this bold Syrah comprised of several exceptional vineyards in the Columbia, Yakima and Walla Walla Valleys.

Tasting Notes:

The Ex Umbris Syrah opens on the nose with dried cranberries and a touch of stone and leather. The masculine scents then give way to fresh cherries and blueberries on the palette. Subtle pepper and light smokiness follow the fruit into the mid-palate. The tannins are already smooth, making this our everyday Syrah.
