History: Petrolo is a leading wine estate of Tuscany, Italy. It is located a mile or so to the east of Chianti Classico, within the Chianti Colli Aretini zone. It is widely regarded as rivalling many Chianti Classico properties in terms of quality, and is best known for its high-quality Sangiovese-based wines.

Tasting Notes: 

Intense elegant wine with great structure and complexity, lovely balance between acidity, fruit and tannins. A great wine, beyond the grape varietal it is made from, must be expression of the piece of land it came from. Beyond being essentially good, it has to be a classic in its own way.
