History: Located in what was St. Helena’s “Chinatown” in the 1920s, Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard sits in a small residential neighborhood on the city’s west side, an unassuming site fringed by an old bed of river and a rock quarry. The vineyard was originally planted in 1858 by Dr. George Belden Crane of San Francisco; today it is owned by Andy Beckstoffer, who replanted it with multiple clones of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc in 1998.

“This wine has concentrated richness and a blend of baked plum, mocha and thick cherry compote. From the famous site, it quivers in minerality, from crushed rock to tree bark and cedar. Full-bodied intensity meets a balance of spicy acidity that sizzles with accents of black pepper and leather.” -Virginie Boone
