History: Moonracer is Realm’s Estate wine from our SLD Estate Vineyard on Wappo Hill in the Stags Leap District. This elevated site is considered critical to the Wappo Native Americans, providing the tribe with a central vantage point from which to spot intruders. The Wappos, though small in number, were known for their bravery, strength, and athleticism. Author Jack London, writing about the curious races between tribes during full moons, noted that the Wappos often won these contests. Hence, Moonracer is an oblique reference to the first inhabitants of the place Realm calls home.

Tasting Notes:

“The tannins here are a step up, and this beauty boasts a gorgeous nose of red and black fruits, tobacco leaves, violets, and spices. It is a more elegant, medium to full-bodied, seamless wine, accurately described as an iron fist in a velvet glove by winemaker Benoit Touquette.” – Jeb Dunnuck.
