History: Kumesen Syuzo was founded in 1952 and began distilling Awamori, an indigenous distilled alcoholic beverage made from Indica rice and unique to Japan’s Okinawa Islands, also known as the Ryuku Islands. Around 1989, this innovative distillery began to mature its spirit in oak barrels, creating a type of chi-whisky unique in its own category. Known to whiskey connoisseurs for its resemblance to Nikka Pure Malt. REI has very low levels of phenol, followed by balanced notes of sweet tropical fruit character. Extraordinarily smooth, this easy sip doesn’t burn alcohol. This is a unique Japanese whiskey from the low peat content to the fruity pineapple flavours. Rei translates as “respect” in English and is the third virtue of this producer. Part of the Bushido series.

Subtle peat notes, followed by fruity flavors of pineapple. A smooth mouthfeel that extends to a lingering finish.
