History: The Liger-Belair family has been involved in winemaking for over 250 years. In 2001, Thibault Liger-Belair took over as the winemaker and established Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair. After studying viticulture and oenology for six years and working in wine communications in Paris, Thibault pursued his passion for winemaking at the age of 26. He emphasizes the importance of “listening” to the vines to help them achieve their natural potential, focusing on quality over quantity. The vineyards are certified organic by Ecocert, and Les Saint-Georges, located in the southern part of the appellation, is one of the oldest climats, with vines dating back to around 1000 AD. By the late 19th century, Nuits was allowed to add the prestigious “Saint-Georges” cru to its name.

Tasting Notes:

The 2021 Bourgogne Grand Chaillots is a mix of climats including declassified Hautes-Côte since 2020, with no pigeage conducted during maceration. The bouquet is quite forward and overtly floral with pressed violets that threaten to obscure terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth entry, velvety texture with orange zest surfacing on the sweet finish.
