Tomas Postigo Vinificacion Integral 2019 – 1.5ltr

$328.00

Region: Ribera del Duero, Spain

Vintage: 2019

Composition: Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot y Malbec.

History: Tomás Postigo has a degree in Chemistry from the Autonomous University of Madrid and Oenology from the University of Valladolid. Postigo arrived in the Ribera del Duero in 1984 and is considered one of the most knowledgeable winemakers in the area. From 1988 to 2008, while in Peñafiel, he created and managed one of the most famous and emblematic wines of the Denomination of Origin (D.O.). During this time, Tomás Postigo pioneered new fields of diverse winemaking, such as the use of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the implementation of drip irrigation in the Ribera del Duero vineyards, and the use of French oak for red wine aging as well as the production of wines with movement of grapes fed by gravity. Tomás Postigo is the first winery to receive the Carbon Footprint, an ecological award that guarantees sustainable and environmental practices that do not harm the environment.

Tasting Notes:

Deep, bright cherry-red color. It presents a captivating and expressive nose from the start. Very open and direct right after uncorking — a wine that evolves over time and changes with each sip. Initially, subtle notes of wild red and black berries appear. Then, hints of other foreign varieties emerge (spicy notes: white pepper, clove, eucalyptus, mint), before returning to fresh fruit (cherry). A very fresh and vibrant wine with firm, rounded tannins. Its personality and fluidity are surprising. A serious wine with a long aftertaste and great aging potential.
