Composition: 100% Pinot Noir

History: Proprietors Tim and Ali Beranek began visiting Northern California’s wine regions in their early twenties.  Fifteen years later, in 2013, Young Hagen Wines began in the corner of the cellar at Outpost Winery, where Tim worked as Cellarmaster. After attending high school together in Northern Wisconsin, Ali was off to college in MN, then CA.  Tim moved to San Diego to pursue his passion for golf.  Upon graduating from the Golf Academy of America, and playing professionally on developmental tours, he worked as a club professional in Minnesota and Southern California.  Golf lead to an interest in wine and additional Winemaking studies at Minnesota and Davis.  After starting as an intern at Kosta Browne in 2010, Tim began working under Thomas Rivers Brown at Outpost in 2011 and then Mending Wall as Assistant Winemaker and Winemaker. In addition to Young Hagen, Tim is currently Winemaker at Mending Wall in St. Helena, and Bydand Wines in Windsor.

Tasting Notes:

Notes of rose and raspberry dominate the elegant aromatics, with some spice and saline elements. Cherries, pomegranate, and classic Deep End Anderson Valley red apple skin notes, along with black tea, are highlighted on the palate. Plenty of acidity and texture builds a persistent and polished finish that pulls you back in.
